On November 12, the Grade 8 Thai native language class went on a field trip to Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the temple of the Emerald Buddha. Built in 1785 during the reign of King Rama I, Wat Phra Kaew is regarded as one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Thailand. Its formal name is Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, which means “the residence of the Holy Jewel Buddha.” The Emerald Buddha is considered a sacred object that provides protection for the kingdom.

Currently, the Grade 8 Thai class is learning about Ramakien, Thailand’s national epic. At Wat Phra Kaew, the students were able to learn about the history and architecture of the temple, which is also located in the same compound as the royal palace, and connect it to their academic learning in school.
